"The eternal husband" by F.M.Dostoevsky: "ontological" conflict or "immemorial" collision?

The article is devoted to complex research of eternity and memory in F.M.Dostoevsky's story «The eternal husband». The aim of the research is to estimate the semantic potential of the constant "sacrifice" to reveal the author's behavior and explain the implicit author's point of view. On the basis of the motif analysis of the myth-ritual constants, determined by the "Golgotha" complex, the original interpretation of the image of «the eternal husband» is proposed, with a dominant of his «eternity» instead of the social status «husband». The invariant symbolism of the "Golgotha" complex in the story enriches it by the memory of the tradition and is enriched by it getting additional sense and meanings.
