Verbal and non-verbal methods of presenting information in the Russian-language video essays

The relevance of the study is due to the growing popularity of the video essay genre and insufficient research of this genre of film criticism. Audiovisual essays use a unique way of presenting information, which consists in the use of already existing visual images and soundtracks from films in combination with the voice of the narrator, which indicates the synthesis of verbal and non-verbal means of information presentation. On the example of the video essay of the Kinopoisk channel, the article analyzes the methods used by the authors of the video essays to substantiate the theses. It is proved that the video essay genre relies on the visual transmission of information to the same extent as on verbal explanations. The content of the video, which uses the means of information transfer, is considered in detail. The article concludes that the authors of the video essay benefit from the video format, which combines verbal and non-verbal ways of transmitting information.
