Verification of generational theory using the example of an industrial enterprise

This paper verifies the generational theory in the version of W. Strauss and N. Hove, which is widely popular in the modern popular scientific literature and is actively used in personnel management by many large and medium-sized businesses. This version of generational theory was tested through a standardized selec-tive questionnaire administered to 863 employees of a large manufacturing outfit in the machinery manufacturing sector in Perm Krai. Conclusions are presented that allow to question the common belief that there is a set of indicators to distinguish between Generation X and Generation Y by their value and behavioral attitudes. The study clearly shows that this version of generational theory cannot be used as a scientific tool and requires rethinking.
