State religious policy towards "new cults" in Transbaikalia in the early 20th century

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the functioning of "new religious cult" in the territory of Transbaikalia in the early 20th century. The author discusses the issues of reforming religious policy during this period in the introduction. The revolutionary events in Russia in the early 20th century and the democratization of the Russian society have influenced the transformation of religious legislation towards religious cults. The main part of the article is devoted to some aspects of the history of the emergence and development of "religious cults" in Transbaikalia, providing a comprehensive characterization and features of their functioning. In conclusion, the author concludes that the freedom of religion declared in the Decree of Emperor Nicholas II not only legalized and activated the activities of many cultist communities but also influenced the creation of new ones.
