The article describes the results of veterinary and sanitary expertise and evaluation of feed for productive animals according to organoleptic and laboratory parameters. Exceeding the values of these indicators or non-compliance with the requirements of regulatory documents is the basis for not allowing such feed products to be sold, and if such feed enters the diet, it will negatively affect the health of animals and, as a consequence, the quality of meat and or dairy products obtained. The purpose of the work was to conduct veterinary and sanitary expertise and evaluation of feed according to organoleptic and laboratory parameters. Studies of samples of feed products were carried out in the conditions of the educational and research center for the examination of food and animal feed of the St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. The materials for the study were 187 samples of feed products, of which 168 samples were complete compound feeds for different types of animals: 89 samples - for pigs, 37 samples - for poultry, 42 samples - for cattle; 19 samples of animal feed flour. The color, appearance, smell, granule size and crumbliness were determined from organoleptic parameters, and the content of the mass fraction of crude ash, crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat and moisture, as well as calcium and phosphorus were determined from laboratory parameters. As a result of the conducted studies, it was established that in appearance, color and smell of animal feed and feed flour corresponded to the organoleptic parameters established by the requirements of regulatory documents. The mass fraction of crude ash, crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat and moisture, as well as calcium and phosphorus of all feed samples corresponded to the values provided for by the current regulatory documents for a certain type of feed. Thus, the veterinary and sanitary expertise of feed in order to determine organoleptic and laboratory parameters is a necessary link in the assessment of their goodness and the possibility of further use.
