Victimological portrait: concept, content, value in the context of combating crime

The article reveals the main aspects of the importance of studying the behavior of the victim and the offender in modern conditions of combating crime. The article emphasizes that the study of the behavior of the offender and the victim with the help of victimological portrait is necessary to restore the chronology of previous events. Among the parameters of the profle can be identifed physiological, mental, social, educational, professional. In foreign victimological literature, the term “crime victim’s portrait” has been defned by the Norwegian criminologist N. Christie’s in 1986 Establishing victimological portrait was associated with the theory of the basic “parameters of the ideal victim”. In the doctrine of domestic criminological science, the term “victimological portrait” is closely related to the concept of “individual victimization”. In the course of the study, the author found that a fully compiled victimological portrait of the victim will be the starting point in the development of preventive methods of combating crime.
