During archaeological excavations at the fortified settlement of Polyanka(the Crimea, Azov Sea region, 2009-2010) the remains of wine-producing complexwere discovered. The well-preserved complex included one large winepress and onecistern of rectangular shape. In the corners of the winepress were found two limestoneweights for pressing. The winery occupied an essential part of rather large room whichonce served some other purposes, maybe habitation or household ones. The winery is of«composite» type and dates from the second half of the 1 st c. BC. Judging from its possibleproductiveness, it couldn't serve for commodity production.
