The article is devoted to the status of visual phenomena in the space of contemporary culture. The authors note the transformation of visualization tools into independent means of communication. The basis for changing the status of the visual in scientific discourse is the so-called visual (iconic) turn. Before the reflection of one's own experience in the previous system of communications was the process of documenting, while modern visual technologies make it possible to carry out the logging of one's own life, keeping it in digital form. However, a locus is preserved in the contemporary culture, where reality in all its completeness still retains a priority - this is a real spectacle. Tendencies of virtualization of visuality, paradoxically exacerbate the relevance of living, organic, authentic-event spectacular forms.
