The paper concerns the actual situation in modern studies of byzantine culture according to inter-disciplinary approach of such fields as philology, history of science and pedagogics, philosophy and theology, and especially deals with lexicographical studies. It mentions different byzantine lexicons, for example one writen by Saint Photius, the patriarch of Constantinople, and another one which is known as Souda. Tis lexicon is a kind of very broad encyclopedia and is an object of the close scientific research and translation on some European languages. More over its English version is presented in on-line project named Te Suda On Line (SOL), and that is very important because many scholars not only can now use it but add their comments to its notes. Also the article concerns some maters in the context of co-existence of different ideological and pedagogical lines in Hellenistic and Christian «continuity - discontinuity» in medieval byzantine culture.
