This article examines the exploration of the archetypal image of the benevolent father in Soviet artistic culture. For the Russian people the image of the good father is connected with the image of God, because originally people unconsciously loved the image of the merciful, loving and strict Heavenly Father. This unconscious love manifests a trait of the Russian character - the search for the good, the desire for the good. In the domestic tradition and culture, the archetypal traits of the benevolent father have been concentrated in the personas of rulers: “God in heaven, the tsar on earth”. As the people loved God, they accepted the image of the ruler with the same heartfelt simplicity and reverence. In the God-fighting Soviet era, the images of the leaders were created recognizable for the people. The language of the Soviet poster formed the image of the leader as a wise teacher and mentor, the father of the people. In the concept of the chief surrounded by children, the chief personified the creative beginning of the new world, and children - the Soviet people in their sincere love for the party. The author concludes that the archetypal image of the benevolent father is characterized by its constancy, preserving the traits of an ideal of morality both in the portraits of leaders in Soviet artistic culture and in the religious representations held by the Russian populace.
