This article presents a historical analysis of the forms and methods of training history teachers at the Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical Institute, which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2025. It examines the challenges of developing the teaching staff at the South Ural university during the period of widespread adoption of history in schools, when the need for qualified personnel was extremely high. The article outlines the key areas of personnel policy and the challenges of the Great Patriotic War, when the university continued to operate. The authors pay particular attention to the development of a methodological school for teaching history and the organization of internships for students of the History Department during the Soviet period. In conclusion, it is emphasized that, despite these challenges, the university and its history department managed to maintain a high quality of teacher training throughout this period.
