The Vladikavkaz Railroad in Pre-Revolutionary Historiography Assessments

The article presents a historiographical review of works by Russian historians of the pre-revolutionary period on the problems of railroad construction in the Russian Empire on the example of a large private highway - Vladikavkaz railroad. It is noted that for this period of development of historical science is characterized by polemics between supporters of private and state railway construction. The Vladikavkaz railroad most often appeared in general works when the authors analyzed the activities of various highways of the Russian Empire. Most researchers noted the important strategic, economic and socio-cultural importance of this railroad.
