The author aims to demonstrate the development of several Indian and non-Indian writing systems, both in India and in a significant part of the rest of the Asian continent, focusing on the analysis of the development of several world communities under their influence. The analysis of the edicts of Emperor Ashoka, which reached us in the form of inscriptions, printed in Brahmi on the surface of rocks, columns and walls of caves, leads the author to wide generalizations. In particular, the importance of the Pali language for the development of local dialects is determined, it is indicated that the decrees of Ashoka in the Hellenistic period progressively influenced the adjacent Greek, Armenian and Syrian territories. It is concluded that Buddhist languages contributed not only to the development and progress of the languages of Northern India, but also to South Indian and Sri Lankan scripts and languages. One of the lines of development of the writing of Brahmi led to the appearance of the Gupta script and the siddham writing system. Siddham became the basis of the script of Devanagari (the most famous writing used as the graphic basis of Sanskrit, Hindi, Stindhi, Nepali and other languages of India).
