The influence of consumer culture phenomenon on demographic situation in modern China

The article identifies and systematizes the features of China's new generation consumer culture and characterizes its negative impact on the family values of Celestial society. The desire for hedonism, comfort, career building, the material needs growth of Chinese youth leads to a decrease in the birth rate. Culture-related individualism and egoism of the individual give rise to the phenomenon of consumer society. It is characterized by the exclusion of traditional family values from the national consciousness and the spread among youth of tendencies to free, unmarried relations and the creation of small or childless families. There is a cumulative effect of the concept of marriage and childbearing. The country faces the premise of a demographic crisis that could destabilize its economy and even political life. The conclusion is that the spread of consumer culture, which leads to the moral degradation of the nation, must be curbed at the state level as well as supporting the revival of traditional Confucian values.
