The philosophy of beliefs, cults, and values in children upbringing in Korean traditional society

The article substantiates the urgency of studying philosophical, spiritual and moral principles, basic moral values of children up-bringing in the Pacific Rim. We have considered the influence of animism, totemism, fetishism, demonism, the cult of nature, veneration of the dead and Buddhism on formation of the conceptual foundations of education, development and implementation of upbringing techniques in traditional Korean society. Special attention is paid to the cult of nature, veneration of the dead, cult of the founder of ruling dynasty, Buddhism and their role in upbringing of children. The novelty of research consists in identification of the authoritarian - paternalistic approach in upbringing of children, concretization of the ideal and goal of raising a respectful, humble, disciplined, non-confrontational person, clarifying the ideological, political, integrative, regulative, educational functions of ancient beliefs, cults and values in Korean traditional society.
