The article explores the role and place of physical training in the system of professional education for cadets of departmental universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. It examines the relationship between the level of physical fitness and the formation of key professional qualities, competencies, and psychophysiological characteristics of future employees of internal affairs bodies. Based on the analysis of regulatory legal acts, departmental requirements, and scientific literature, it is proven that physical training is not an auxiliary discipline, but a system-forming discipline integrated into the process of professional development. Special attention is paid to the transformation of physical abilities into professional skills and competencies, as well as the role of physical culture and sports activities in the development of volitional, moral, and leadership qualities. The article concludes that there is a need for further integration of physical training with operational, tactical, and special training.leadership qualities.
