Influence of geopolitical factors on disintegration processes in Europe

The article aims at substantiating the influence of geopolitics on the disintegration processes in the European Union, despite their transformation over a long period of its functioning. The article shows that in modern conditions the geopolitical centre of the European Union is weakening as a result of a combination of crises, which limit the possibility of internal control. The most adverse phenomena are localized in the western part of the continent, gradually spreading to Central Europe, and have a long-term negative impact on European integration, which leads to an asymmetric development of the union and prevents it from realizing its full potential. The social problems that make the European Union internally inconsistent and vulnerable to various political tensions, which may even lead to its collapse, are highlighted. External challenges have been identified, most of which have a negative impact on the geopolitical position of the union.
