The historical development of humanity has transitioned from perceiving nature as an inexhaust-ible resource to recognizing the ecological crisis caused by anthropogenic impacts. Global issues (ecosystem deg-radation, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss) demand a reevaluation of human-nature interaction. Sus-tainable development, rooted in societal value transformation, integrates ecological culture with modern practices. China’s approach, grounded in the philosophy of “unity of heaven and human”, proposes an “ecological moderni-zation” model combining systemic governance, green technologies, and global cooperation. This transcends the Western dichotomy of anthropocentrism and ecocentrism, offering a “third path” to harmonize relationships amid climate challenges and technological breakthroughs. The dialectical unity and contradiction within the “human-na-ture” system underpin the co-evolution of civilization and the biosphere.
