Influence of galega extracts on lipides metabolism in experimental diabetes mellitus

The blood level triglycerides, the summary content of very low density and low density lipoproteins, high density lipoproteins glycosylations degree, cholesterol atherogenic index have been decreased with the galega (Galega officinalis) extract treatment in rats with experimental diabetes mellitus type II caused with streptozotocine intraperitoneal injection and highfat diet. The effect did not depend on food regimen during the therapy. The blood level of glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol decreased, the protein of high density lipoproteins increased and the sensitivity to insulin have been recovered with the galega extract in usual food regimen during the therapy. The level of blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin has been decreased, the protein of high density lipoproteins increased and the sensitivity to insulin have been recovered with metformin in usual food regimen during the therapy. The lipid content cholesterol atherogenic index have been normalized by metformin in both variants of diet.
