Influence of selection methods on ricinoleic acid content in oil of castor seeds

Influence of mass and individual selection in population of castor variety VNIIMK-420 on increase of ricinoleic acid content was studied. Mass selection appeared to be less effective for increase of ricinoleic acid content in oil of castor seeds. Individual selection with estimation on posterity is the best method, which allows increasing ricinoleic acid content on 5.1%, in comparison with initial population, in a rotation. Statistic analysis of obtained data proved the reliability of our results.
