The impact of international labor migration on the social and economic development of the host country

In the context of global migration processes development, merging national employment markets into a single global market, the issue of international labor migration is becoming more relevant for the host country. The research considers the dynamics, territorial aspect and (professional, age and sex) structure of international labor migration, the educational level of migrants (and its applicability) and the reasons for their high competitiveness on the domestic labor market from an employer’s perspective. The employment structures of the local population and labor migrants with the regard to their occupational skills are compared. The importance of labor migration for labor-exporting states is analyzed. The study reveals positive and negative effects of labor migration on the host country (social, cultural, economic ones). The areas of migration policy improvement in the Russian Federation are systematized.
