This paper is one of the first attempts in our country to conduct economic analysis from the perspective of labor migration and foreign trade. The approach is based on the Global Migration Group (GMG) guidelines. The consistency of changes in the number of migrants and exports was studied using the method of parallel data and the elasticity method. The author proposes the indicator “exports per migrant in the host region” to measure the effectiveness of migration policies for sustainable development. Empirical research has not revealed the impact of the number of labor migrants on the volume of exports to the countries of origin, nor has it confirmed the impact of export development on the movement of foreign labor. The thesis that temporary labor migrants’ savings are not invested in the host country is confirmed. We propose an indicator of the investment activity of migrants based on the comparison of direct investment and cross-border remittances. In 2020 and 2021, the final indicator of investment activity is negative, indicating a loss of interest in investment. Commercialization of migrants is facilitated by the structures of assistance in search of countries and business partners created within the region, corresponding to the model of international cooperation.
