The effect of seeding rate on the certain elements of yield structure of sunflower varieties and hybrids

In 2016-2017, we studied the correlation between the individual elements of yield structure of sunflower varieties and hybrids and the seeding rate. We conducted the research at the ordinary chernozem on the fields of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops. The objects of research were varieties (Skormas, Umnik, master) and hybrids (Mercury, Typhoon, Imidzh, Oksi, Natalie) of sunflower, cultivated at a seeding rate of 40, 60 and 80 thousand seeds/ha. Hybrids Natalie and Imidzh and varieties Umnik and Master had the best performance: the head diameter was 19.2-20.2 cm, the head's productive area varied from 298.7 to 325.3 cm2, the number of filled seeds in the head ranged from 1506 to 1765 seeds. The increase of plant population from 40 thousand seeds/ha to 60-80 thousand seeds/ha contributed to a significant decrease in the considered indicators: the head diameter decreased from 20.7 to 18.1-17.6 cm, the productive area of heads decreased from 334...
