The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant negative impact on all areas of human life, thereby jeopardizing progress in the formation of human capital. This scientific article is devoted to the study of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on human capital in the regions of the Central Federal District of Russia and the development of a strategy to overcome the consequences of the pandemic in order to improve the coefficients to increase economic growth and increase the pace of scientific and technological progress. The assessment of the level of development of human capital using the integral coefficient made it possible to identify leading and lagging regions in terms of various forms of the generalizing coefficient of human capital, as well as to study the development trends of regions over the past five years. The mechanisms for minimizing the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, proposed by the authors, can be used to stabilize the economy and improve the living standards of the population.
