One of the basic economic prerequisites for disintegration manifestations in Spain is determined, consisting in the unevenness of economic development both at the macroregional level and within the framework of the analyzed economy. The economic situation in Spain, which has been deteriorating in recent years, is one of the manifestations of interstate differences in economic development in the EU. A comparative analysis of the block of macroeconomic indicators that characterize a deeper economic shock in Spain as a result of the impact of the new coronavirus pandemic, in comparison with the EU countries as a whole, is carried out. The conclusion is made about the weak stability of the Spanish economy to systemic crises, which is one of the prerequisites for disintegration tendencies within the country. Risks of aggravation of the contradictions between Madrid and the Basque Country in the context of the systemic crisis of 2020-2021 are substantiated.
