The Impact of User Interfaces on the Human Life World: A Cultural Analysis

The article examines the fundamental problem of the transformation of the life world of a modern person under the influence of the digital environment, part of which is the user interface. Acting as an active agent, the interface shapes the formation of personal self-awareness in the digital society. It is a significant driver of cultural dynamics, fostering new behavioural patterns and novel forms of cultural experience. The paper introduces and defines the concept of the “lifeworld,” which is becoming increasingly virtualised; the boundaries between public and private are blurred, and social interaction takes on new forms. All this is accompanied by transformation, and sometimes complete disappearance of the “old” and birth of new cultural practices. The life world becomes the ontological basis of these changes. Its basic characteristics become a new corporeality, a different temporality, transparency of life, expanded cognition.
