The purpose of the study: self-development of students during their studies at a higher educational institution. The main factors affecting the self-development of students, the qualities that university graduates should possess, as well as the tasks facing teachers in the learning process are considered. The scientific novelty lies in the consideration of learning from both a professional and a social point of view. As a result, it was determined that the self-development of students is necessary for the training of highly qualified specialists.
