The impact of the problem of refugees from Myanmar on the situation in Southeast Asia

The armed conflict in Myanmar in 2015 led to a large flow of refugees to neighboring countries of Southeast Asia, which caused a number of socio-economic problems in interstate cooperation. Compared to refugee problems in other regions, the international community does not pay enough attention to the situation with refugees from Myanmar, which determines the author’s choice of research topic. For its disclosure, the author used the method of historical retrospection and a comparative approach. The paper analyzes in detail the causes of the refugee crisis in Myanmar, examines the impact of this problem on the situation in Southeast Asia. The main factors hindering the creation of regional interstate mechanisms for resolving refugee problems are indicated. Special attention is paid to the impact of the refugee problem from Myanmar on intergovernmental relations with the PRC.
