The article analyzes the fact that in modern society more and more people realize the importance of physical activity for health and well - being. However, just starting to exercise is not enough. To achieve sustainable results and avoid negative consequences, it is necessary to have self - control and self - discipline. Without proper self - control, it is easy to overload the body, which leads to overtraining, injuries and a decrease in the effectiveness of training. Self - control helps an athlete to adequately assess their capabilities and avoid risky situations. Many people, having started playing sports, give up this business due to lack of motivation and willpower. Self - discipline helps to overcome these difficulties and stick to a training regime for a long time. Self - control allows an athlete to track the dynamics of his results, adjust the training plan, increasing its effectiveness and adapting it to the individual characteristics of the body. Sport is not only a physical activity, but alsodifficult psychological work. Self - control and self - discipline help to manage stress, control emotions and increase self - confidence.
