The impact of socioeconomical factors on tuberculosis mortality in the urals

Tuberculosis (TB) mortality is one of the most reliable indicators characterizing epidemiological situation of tuberculosis. TB mortality rate in some degree depends on the impact of social and economical factors. In 11 monitored regions of Ural (Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk Khanty-Mansijsk and Yamalo-Nenetsky region, Privolzhsky federal region (Republik of Bashkotostan, Republic of Udmurtija, Permsky kraj, Kirov, Orenburg regions) the impact on TB mortality of 16 social and economical factors, characterizing conditions of labor and employment, living conditions were investigated. Pearson method was used to assess social and economical factors impact on TB prevalence. Statistical analysis was performed by SPSS 10.1. The influence of social and economical on TB prevalence in population was detected, and that proved tuberculosis to be socially conditioned inflectional disease. Risk of death from tuberculosis was higher by the reason of immunodeficiency predicted by stress factors such as job loss and unemployment, low pensions, income below subsistence line and slum living conditions.
