Currently, the quality of flax products remains low. Respectively, the quality of more than 80 % of the received long fiber does not exceed 9-10 numbers. But not only the quality of flax influences the quality of flax fiber. The method of flax straw processing is also very important. It is known that the processing of flax on the tools SMT-200M, SMT-500 and MTA installed on the flax plants varies considerably and the reason for this is the distinction in preparing stems to breaking. In our opinion, in addition to this reason, the differences may arise due to a gentler processing of flax in the SMT machine and the design of the scutching working units - the breaker reels. However, an industrial breaking-scutching machine ALS-1 and the number of long fibers and some of its characteristics (quality indicators) have not been investigated previously.
