Two-year studies of the yield and quality of oil flax variety “Severny”, depending on the sowing period in the conditions of the subtaiga zone of Western Siberia, showed that the longest growing period of 107-106 days for oil flax was noted when sowing in the second ten days of May. At later sowing dates, it was reduced to 101-102 days. Sowing in the second decade of May provides greater field germination of plants - 60.1-70.5%.The highest safety of plants for harvesting - 90.3-90.2% was noted during sowing on May 18 and 25. The largest number of bolls - 11.5-11.6 pcs.per plant, as well as larger seeds in them with a mass of 1000 pcs. 8.3-8.4 g are also formed during sowing in the second decade of May. The highest yield of flax oilseeds was obtained when sowing on May 12 and 18. The highest oil content in seeds - 43.2% was formed when sowing on May 18, and the lowest - 41.5% - at a later sowing date - June 1. Thus, in the subtaiga zone of Western Siberia the optimal time for sowing oil flax is the second ten days of May. Sowing at this time allows obtaining the highest seed yield and fat content in them. Sowing oil flax at a later date leads to a decrease in the yield and oil content of the seeds.
