Impact of planting date on sunflower yield

The experiment results on studying of 7 dates of planting sunflower cultivars Master and Rodnik (Spring) of VNIIMK breeding (Russia), conducted in 2002-2003 in Kara-Kalpak’s NII of Agriculture. Appropriateness of decrease of sunflower productivity is observed clearly as delaying a planting on later term, especially on the end of May - the beginning of June. The both cultivars had the highest yield as seeding 15 and 30 of March. As delaying a planting vegetation period was shortened, empty seediness was increased, diameter of heads was decreased, size of seeds was reduced.
