The impact of hairstyle on communication process

The study focuses on hairstyle as a means of social and cultural communication. The hairstyle is treated as an individualized artifact that provides an instant exchange of information between communicators of various social groups. The research presents the hairstyle constants influencing the transmission of personal and socially significant information via channels that motivate communicators to achieve emotional and social satisfaction. The hairstyle is interpreted as a text which reflects the spontaneous and natural or constructed, specified, but symptomatic response to the social and cultural processes, the internal and external dynamics of culture. The study describes the options for transforming the semiotic and communication codes affecting the attachment of connotation significance to hairstyle with regard to belonging to a social group. As a result, hairstyle is defined in modern culture as the most accessible non-verbal text that promotes the exchange, perception, and interpretation of information about historical, cultural, national, ethnic, and psychological characteristics of communicators.
