The influence of the shadow economy on the economic system of the Russian Federation

The shadow economy poses a serious threat to the stable and efficient functioning of the State. It is impossible to calculate the exact volumes of the shadow sector. Nevertheless, State bodies carry out constant monitoring and monitoring in order to obtain reliable data. The article analyzes the volume of the shadow economy in the Russian Federation, its share in the country's GDP in the period from 2016 to 2021 is calculated. According to the authors, the growth of the shadow economy in recent years has been influenced by a number of global changes. Based on the analyzed data, the authors came to the conclusion that such a phenomenon as the «shadow economy» cannot be interpreted unambiguously. The article discusses the positive aspects and negative consequences of the influence of the shadow economy on the economic system of Russia. The predominance of the negative consequences of the shadow economy over the positive aspects of its influence has been established.
