The effect of the solubility of water on the structure the sodium and potassium borosilicate glasses was investigation by the methods of vibrational spectroscopy. The significant effect of the formation of hydroxyl groups on the structural position of the alkali metal cations in the silicate and borate parts of the structure of these glasses was found. The participation of the proton-cation exchange in the formation of hydroxyl groups in the glasses of these compositions was shown.
