V.M. Shchurov - scientist and musician: to the problem of preserving the scientific school

The article introduces the biographical data, scientific views of V. M. Shchurov (1937-2020), a famous Russian scientist and collector of folklore. The life path of the researcher is traced from the laboratory assistant of the Cabinet of Folk Music to the professor of the Moscow State Conservatory. The origins of the scientific school of V. M. Shchurov, the scientific views and priorities of the folklore school of the Moscow State Conservatory are presented in terms of the formation of the scientific positions of the scientist. The system of scientific approaches is traced and the most significant works of the researcher are analyzed.
