The practice of assessing personnel in Russia and abroad is considered. The problems of personnel assessment in the transition to the use of professional standards are indicated. The example of JSC Russian Railways shows the results of the development and implementation of professional standards. The importance of the competence model for the successful implementation of the procedures for the business valuation of personnel has been determined. The importance of the participation of employers' associations in the development of vocational education programs VO and ACT, in the context of the implementation of a competence approach to education and their compliance with the requirements of professional standards is demonstrated.
