External secretory pancreatic insufficiency in pathology of the digestive organs

The paper presents an analysis of the examination of 98 patients to identify primary and secondary exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). Using the PEIQ questionnaire and well-known diagnostic methods, EPI was determined in 40.8% of patients. Moreover, the EPI of a mild degree was 52.5%, of an average degree of 30.0% and of a severe degree of 17.5%. Pathology of the pancreas with EPI was more often diagnosed in men, had a longer history of the disease. The main markers of EPI were low body weight, diarrhea, and uneven contours of the pancreas on ultrasound.
