Internal Structure and Personnel of the Educational Committee of the Holy Synod (a Brief Overview)

The article examines the structure, main directions of activity and the personnel of the Educational Committee under the Holy Synod on the basis of various sources, including those unpublished and introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. This structure was formed in 1867 for the centralized management of the theological educational institutions of the Russian Empire. The activities of the Educational Committee were related to the implementation of statutes in seminaries and schools, audits of educational institutions, reviewing textbooks and teaching aids, the distribution of prizes for published and handwritten monographic research. The Educational Committee carried out its activities until 1918.
