Intravesical immuotherapy with BCG vaccine in the combined treatment of invasive bladder cancer

The recurrence incidence with respect to the stage and apoptosis severity of tumor cells was studied in 43 patients with advanced bladder cancer who underwent preventive intravesicular immune therapy with BCG after segmental resection. Stage T2 was detected in 21 (48,8 %) patients and stage T3 in 22 (51,2 %) patients. Recurrences were registered in 37,2 % of patients (in 33,3 % of patients with T2, in 40,9 % of patients with T3). Recurrence occurred in 42,1 % of patients with mild apoptosis in tumor cells, in 33,3 % of patients with moderate apoptosis and in 33,3 % of patients with severe apoptosis.
