Military-patriotic education of youth of the Ulyanovsk region in the late 1990s - early 2000s: some aspects of the activities of local authorities

The article is devoted to the analysis of the activities of government bodies of the Ulyanovsk Region in the field of military-patriotic education of youth. An analysis of state programs for patriotic education adopted at the federal and regional levels demonstrate the main directions and subjects of implementation of measures for the education of youth. Based on archival materials, it is shown that military-patriotic work was carried out in educational institutions, training centers, and training camps. The media contributed to increasing the prestige of military service by covering such events as the month dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day, regional sports competitions, and meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and local military conflicts. During the period under review, the foundations of the modern system of military-patriotic education began to be laid.
