Military and political integration of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the context of forming the regional security system of the commonwealth

The paper examines the content and trends of the evolution of military and political integration of Russia and Belarus as an important element of the regional security system in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The legal framework and joint activities in this field are analyzed. The main directions of cooperation between Russia and Belarus along the lines of the Union State and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are described, as well as the achievements and problems.
