Spitsbergen's status issue in the Soviet Union-Norway relations in 1945-1947

The article analyzes one of the key issues of the Soviet Union-Norway relations in the early post-war years, i.e. the issue on the status of Spitsbergen in the context of the international situation transformation and the formation of the bipolar world system. The author examines the main negative trends affecting the relations between the USSR and Norway which determined their further downgrade in the first stage of the Cold War.
