The author analyzes particular aspects of restriction of liberty for crimes committed under alcohol or drug intoxication as well as for crimes related to illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic and strong substances. The attention to questions of completeness and sufficiency of a mode of Article 53 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is paid. Concrete changes of the criminal legislation, which make it possible to optimize application of the considered institute are offered.
