The research deals with the responsibility for inducement to use narcotic drugs and summarizes modern case laws in relation to Article 230 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (100 sentences handed down by the courts in 34 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, criminal proceedings in Moscow, Moscow and Kaluga regions), expert opinion, and international practices. The author concludes that the characteristics of a victim, a criminal act, and a mental element of this crime are differently interpreted in scientific discourse and case laws. This is due to the lack of legislative elaboration of these characteristics. The research substantiates the need to fill the gaps in Article 230 in this regard. The author proposes the new wording of the above-mentioned characteristics. Information on the most common groups of purposes and motives of inducement to use narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogs should be regarded as a basis for the typology of these crimes.
Drug use, inducement to use drug, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, victim, criminal act, age of criminal responsibility, guilt
