The article deals with the issue of the earthly demise and the afterlife fate of the Most Holy Theotokos. This doctrine is dogmatically framed in the Roman Catholic Church as «Taking into Heavenly Glory», where it is the logical consequence of the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception dogma. If the latter is resolutely rejected by the Orthodox Church, about the former, a certain kind of discussion can be observed in the Orthodox environment. Some theologians accept it with reservations, others - resolutely dispute the possibility of this doctrine adoption and legitimation. The article outlines the views on this issue as the coryphaeuses and classics of Russian theological science of the twentieth century and prominent hierarchs, as well as some teachers of theological schools, who spoke on this question. Considered authors justify the Theotokos resurrection Christologically, as a consequence of Her unique and special relationship with the flesh of the risen Savior. At the same time, there is an anthropological justification: a resurrection due to the special holiness of the Blessed Virgin’s life.
