The educational function of television in the 1960-1970's: historical experience (case study of Izhevsk television)

The article covers the main features of the Soviet television. Special attention is paid to its multi-functionality (besides distribution of information, the Soviet television performed educative function). Specific feature of the majority of TV shows (including children’s ones) of the period under consideration was evident or hidden propaganda of the Soviet way of life. The author concludes that the Izhevsk Television studio aspired to put into practice a comprehensive approach to the issues of ideological and educational activities, supporting the unity of ideological and political, labour and moral education of the population.
