Educational work with convicts as a means of preventing recidivism

To analyze the importance of educational work with convicts in conditions of isolationfrom society and the criminogenic environment, which generates additional prerequisites for recidivism.Methods. The article uses the following methods of scientific cognition analysis, abstraction, synthesis.In addition, a systematic method, cybernetic and synergetic approaches were applied in the field ofstudying the essence of the phenomenon under study.Results. Based on the review of theoretical provisions, it is noted that when planning preventivemeasures and educational work, it is necessary to set real solvable tasks, taking into account thepersonality of convicts, since successful work in the direction of countering penitentiary recidivismlargely depends both on the time of exposure and on the qualitative characteristics of the educationalimpact.Scientific novelty. The author points out the need to overcome the problems of application andformalism in educational work in order to achieve the goal of punishment in the form of correction andprevention of the commission of new crimes.
