The article aims to study the perception of invisible in Russian culture through the analysis of lexical units verbalizing the concept in language. The research material is the data of lexicographic sources and Russian National Corpus. The research methods used in the work are the lexicographic analysis and the cognitive corpus-based analysis, combining the methods of Corpus linguistics and the cognitive interpretation of the contexts where lexical units representing invisible are used. Analysis of the material made it possible to determine that invisibility is perceived not only as a physical phenomenon, but also as a space, idea, scientific goal, technology, disguise, condition and precaution. The reasons for invisibility are considered to be small size, distance, the other object, darkness, and being in another world. The features of invisibility are gradualness, reality/unreality, belonging and metaphoricality, which develops on the basis of acquired properties with the invisibility: stealth or protection. Both living beings and inanimate objects can be invisible . The important role is played by the objects creating invisibility , since they are not only invisible on their own, but also able to hide other objects. The study of perception models verbalized in the language allows one to penetrate into unknown meanings, reveal new connections and better understand the image of the world being studied.
